Winter Residency at Guttenberg Arts, 2020
I was a resident artist at Guttenberg Arts, New Jersey, USA from January to March 2020 along with four other artists: Lucas Almeida, Charlotte Massip, Adams Puryear and Jason Robert Bauer.
My main project during the residency was a tribute to Leonardo. Five hundred years after his death, Mona Lisa is more popular than ever, eclipsing famous art icons such as Nike, Venus, Nefertiti, and the Pyramids. She and Leonardo have become a symbol of the Louvre museum. In 2019, it was visited by almost 10 million people and most of them wanted to see her (and take a selfie!).
In my work, I explored this phenomenon through series of silkscreen prints. Due to COVID 19 pandemic the residency was cut short and our work remained unfinished.
