I use digital photography to address the brave new world of fast-changing boundaries between public and private spaces where the camera becomes a preferred medium of “self-expressionism” and “selfie-expressionism”.
Works like “Brexit” and “Grexit-Runaway Caryatid” became part of series of installations and photographs in which I explore contemporary themes and events. The Caryatids as symbols and structural elements have always fascinated me. In ancient and newer buildings, a few of them dutifully support a load on their heads together. But what happens if one or more refuse to carry balconies, porticos, pediments, Europe… and run away? And could they really run away in this interconnected, interdependent world?
