Old Tobacco Factories - Design for Rehabilitation as Cultural Center

Plovdiv, Bulgaria (1983) - Competition Entry

Designed with Arch. Ekaterina Geneva-Popova and Arch. Vesna Atemova

__

The long-vacant tobacco factories in Plovdiv are iconic to both the history and the built form of the heart of the city, and this design was intended to bring them back to community use while preserving and showcasing their unique early-20th century architecture. The three buildings that are the subject of this design were severely damaged/destroyed by fire in 2016. The renovation was never carried out.
